Mindfulness

What Is Mindfulness

Mindfulness is nonjudgmental awareness of the present moment. Evidence supports benefits for stress reduction and mood. See NCCIH.

Breath Practice

Practice 5–10 minutes of diaphragmatic breathing daily. Sit comfortably, inhale through the nose, expand the belly, exhale slowly.

Body Scan

Systematically notice sensations from head to toe without judgment to improve interoceptive awareness.

Mindfulness at Work

Use brief pauses between tasks, single-tasking, and mindful breaks to reduce cognitive load.

Evidence and Safety

Mindfulness is generally safe when practiced appropriately. It complements—not replaces—clinical care. See systematic reviews via PubMed.

California Programs

Community classes and digital programs are available across California wellness centers and universities.
